FAQs

How are Photographic Prints made?

This product is printed on Noritsu, Durst, and Chromira printers using a traditional photographic process involving chemistry and paper with silver halide. The image is projected onto the paper and exposed during the printing process using lasers and chemistry, giving you a final product with a traditional photographic feel and depth. There is no ink involved in this printing process.

Is there a Bleed?

Yes! Photographic Prints will incur a small overall bleed during the printing process. To create Photographic Prints, we project the image onto the paper within the printer and this includes a 3% enlargement so that the image fulfills the paper it is being projected onto. To prevent any issues as a result of this bleed, we do suggest that you make sure all important elements of your image within ¼" of the outside edges.

Is Color Correction available?

This product has color correction available for $0.75 per image. Color Correction involves global color adjustments made to an image made within the lab printing software. Color Correction is added to an order as a whole and cannot be added to part of an order.

Do Mini Snapshots have backprinting?

Backprinting is part of every Photographic Print produced and cannot be removed or customized. Backprinting will always include the Item Number, Studio Name, File Name, Year, and Copyright.

Is there a bleed when you add mounting?

If you mount your print you should anticipate an overall loss of approximately ⅛" on each edge. When we mount a print, the mounting board we use is ⅛" smaller than the print size you are ordering so that we can mount the print, then trim off the slivers that overlap the edges for a clean finish. It is important to keep text, logos, and important image elements at least ½" away from the edge of your image.

How do you display a Mounted Print?

A mounted print is created by using a dry mount process to seal the back of a print onto a board with pre-applied adhesive. It is best to display any mounted print in a dry, temperate area away from direct sunlight and air vents. Though the print and mount are both archival, changes in moisture and exposure to sunlight can affect the adhesive layer binding the print to the mounting board which can result in bubbling over time.
